Job Title: Sr/ PCB Designer

Reporting to: Head – Design and Development
A. ROLE PURPOSE
The purpose of a PCB designer is to transform schematic diagrams into physical PCB layouts, considering numerous factors such as signal integrity, power distribution, thermal management, and manufacturability. The PCB designer’s work is essential for the successful development and production of electronic devices, contributing to their functionality, reliability, and overall performance.
B. KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Sr. Key Responsibilities:
1) Circuit Design:
- Design and develop schematic diagrams for electronic circuits based on project requirements. Creating the Schematic library.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to understand design specifications and constraints.
- PCB Layout:
- Create and optimise PCB layouts using EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools, considering factors such as signal integrity, power distribution, and thermal management. Creating the PCB Footprint library.
- Implement best practices for component placement, routing, and layer stack-up.
2) Component Selection:
- Collaborate with the hardware and design engineers and the purchase team to select appropriate electronic components based on functionality, cost, and availability.
- Ensure compatibility and compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
- Design Verification:
- Conduct design reviews in collaboration with the hardware and design engineers to ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and design guidelines.
- Perform simulations and analysis to validate the performance and reliability of the PCB design.
3) Documentation:
- Provides necessary inputs for purchase, design engineer and documentation engineers.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of design changes and revisions.
4) Collaboration:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, design engineers, QC, and manufacturing teams, to ensure seamless integration of PCB designs into the overall product.
5) Prototyping Support:
Provide support during the prototyping phase, collaborating with the manufacturing team to address any issues that may arise during PCB assembly and testing.
6) Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure that PCB designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and any relevant certification requirements.
7) Cost Optimisation:
Collaborate with related teams, such as procurement and manufacturing teams to optimise PCB designs for cost-effectiveness without compromising performance and reliability.
8) Technology Trends:
Stay informed about advancements in PCB design technologies, tools, and methodologies. Integrate modern technologies to improve design processes and outcomes.

D. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Qualification: Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Electronics, Instrumentation, E&TC or a related field.
Experience: Proven experience in PCB design, including proficiency in using Altium tools.
E. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIREMENT
Technical Skills:
● Proficient in PCB design software (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro).
● Solid understanding of signal integrity, power distribution, and thermal considerations in PCB design.
